This is hands down one of the best things to do during the winter in Fernie! Fernie Alpine Resort is known for its 5 bowls of varied terrain. The runs are beautiful and there is tons of snow! Adult admission is $104.95 CAD; however if you go online and purchase the tickets a few days beforehand you can save up to 20%. Many of the hotels on the hill offer a stay and ski package as well.
Go Cross Country Skiing
Fernie has 5 different areas with over 50 km of groomed cross-country trails. Find skiing for all levels at Fernie Alpine Resort, Fernie Golf & Country Club, Island Lake Lodge, Montane and the Elk Valley Nordic Centre. You can rent gear in town or bring your own. Sample Vodka at the Ice Bar
Have you ever wondered what vodka tastes like at -13 ºC? Serving it at this temperature takes the edge off and allows you to appreciate the different flavors. You are provided with a parka and get your choice of 3 Premium ($20) or 3 Elite ($40) vodkas served in ice shot glasses. Located in the Lizard Creek Lodge this experience will take about 20 minutes. Hike or Snowshoe to Fairy Creek Falls
Its more like an easy walk to Fairy Creek Falls; but the trail is beautiful! Park at the Fernie Visitor Information Center (102 Commerce Road) on Highway #3 east of town. A large sign in the parking lot marks the trail head. Fairy Creek Falls Trail is 4 km round trip with an elevation gain of 120 m. From the trail head you can also explore the larger Fairy Creek Trail up to Mount Proctor.

Downtown Fernie is full of charm and tons of little shops. Go during to day to shop for outdoor gear, household items, clothing, trinkets, and make sure to try a cup of hot chocolate from The Bean pod!
